Public Works The Department of Public Works is located at 1005 Wayburn (off Jefferson on Wayburn) . The hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The DPW is responsible for maintenance of city streets, sidewalks, and general cleaning of the city. Fall Leaf Collection Curbside leaf pick-up will begin the week of October 1 and continue until December 12, 2009 (weather permitting). Due to equipment breakdowns & weather, there is no set schedule. Once the truck has been on your street the approximate turn around time will be 2 weeks. Snow Removal During a heavy snowfall, DPW crews will be salting the streets and removing snow immediately on major streets, schools, fire routes, and then residential streets. Snow will be removed from sidewalks only after a heavy downfall, residents are urged to help by clearing the sidewalks around their homes. The Water Board is also part of the DPW, and handle all water main repairs as well as the installation and repair of water meters, the reading of water meters for billing and water shut off due to repairs.
