Parks and Recreation Facilty Rentals


The Tompkins Community Center offers residents a unique and picturesque venue for hosting a wide range of functions.  There is a full-service catering kitchen along with newly updated restrooms and lighting fixtures in the banquet room.  The Center is air conditioned and heated and also offers a gas fireplace.  The newly added Atrium adds to the Center’s capacity and ambiance by providing patrons a beautiful view of the lake while dining.  
The Center’s seating capacity is 130, however the Atrium now adds standing room capacity of up to 150.  We provide tables, chairs, coffee pots, a sound system, wireless microphone and podium.  The sound system also includes a tuner, five disk CD changer, MP3 hookup and WiFi.
Please Note:  Reservations may be made one year in advance from the current calendar date.  Only weddings and wedding receptions can be reserved further in advance.

         Weekdays $300
         Fri., Sat., Sun. Rentals $400 (Memorial Day - Labor Day $650)
         Weddings or Wedding Receptions $750 (Memorial Day - Labor Day $850)
         Monday - Thursday Hourly Rate $60 (up to 4 hours maximum)

On weekends, the Center is reserved from 1:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. The City requires a $275 refundable security deposit on all bookings.  Take advantage of this wonderful facility for your next party event. For more information on the Tompkins Community Center please call 822-2812, ext 201.




Book your court time now! Residents may reserve the gym 72 hours in advance with prepayment or call 24 hours in advance to book without prepayment.  Residents must bring a valid park pass for entry. Proper tennis/gym shoes and shirts are required.  Water bottles are allowed in the gym, but all other food and drinks are not. The gym may be booked for basketball, volleyball, badminton and running games. The Lavins Center supplies basketballs, volleyballs and volleyball nets.

To rent the gym you must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of Grosse Pointe Park. Those under 18 must have a parent or guardian rent the gym and stay in attendance during the rental. The gym may only be rented on the hour for one hour increments.  Half court for one hour is $20.00.  Gym capacity is 25 people per half court.

Gym use policy requires one Park resident to every non-resident.  Rental for parties or large groups (with more than a 1 to 1 ratio of residents to non-residents) is allowed only by pre-registration (72 hrs.), pre-payment and provision of a list of attendees 24 hours before the rental.

Permitted Functions

Events sponsored and on behalf of a Grosse Pointe Park resident.  Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance.  A list of non-residents must be given to the gate attendant the day of the event to allow them access into the building.

Security Deposit Required for Rental
All rental fees and security deposit checks must come from the resident booking the Okulski Theatre.

The McKeever Lounge is located on the second floor of the Lavins Activity Center and is available for small gatherings such as birthday parties, meetings, etc.  The room is often used in conjunction with private theatre rentals.  It overlooks the pool and picnic area of the Park and also has a beautiful view of the Lake.  There is a sink and small counter top for setting up limited food service as well as a flat screen T.V.

The McKeever Lounge may be rented for $25 per hour with a minimum rental time of two hours.  A $175 Security Deposit is also required at time of booking.  Security Deposit will be returned providing no damages have been incurred.  Reservations must be made  at least two weeks in advance.

The new ice rink warming house at Patterson Park has been named the “Lindell Lodge” in recognition of Carlton and Verna Lindell. Their generosity along with the continuing efforts of the Grosse Pointe Park Foundation have built this beautiful facility for our community. We are pleased to announce that it is now available to rent for tea’s, clubs, birthday and card parties, meetings and other small gatherings. The lodge is available for morning or afternoon rentals from April 15th to November 15th.

The lodge features a 32” HDTV flat screen television and surround sound audio system with a gas fireplace, 2 leather club chairs and 2 wooden cafe tables with accompanying wooden chairs. The side windows open and there is a ceiling fan. There is also a handicap accessible restroom. There is no refrigeration, kitchen, sink or serving utensils. Coolers are allowed and the counters may be used for serving food. Total capacity is 25 people.

Building Rules:

  • No smoking allowed.
  • Balloons and table decorations are permitted.  No wall decorations allowed.
  • The lodge is an "AS IS" rental room.  Additional seating and tables are not allowed in the lodge.
  • Picnic permits will not be issued for use with the lodge, however a grill will be available for your barbecue needs.

Rental Fees:

The lodge is available for daily rentals from 10:00 a.m. to dusk. Monday - Friday rentals are $75.00 per booking. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays are $125.00 per booking. A separate security deposit of $100.00 is also required. Security deposit checks will be returned upon request, or ripped up immediately following an event provided there are no damages to the facility. All fees must be paid 2 weeks in advance at the Parks and Recreation office.
