Building Department
Building, Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical Permits are required for all new projects and most remodeling projects including additions, decks, sheds, garages, fencing, installation of furnaces and air conditioning units, installation of hot tubs and pools, and installation of water heaters. Permit fees vary depending on the project.
You can now pull your permit online!
Grosse Pointe Park is now accepting online permit applications on BS&A Online!
Contractors who are registered with the City, with a valid license and current Certificate of Insurance, will need to Create an Account on BS&A Online. After you create and activate your account, you will need to link your account using your unique PIN number provided by the City.
Note: If you already have a username on BS&A Online, you can use that same account and link using the PIN provided by the City.
After you’ve linked your Contractor account you can Apply for a Permit online.

How to Pay for Building Permits and Plan Review Fees
Payment Drop-Box
Drop-boxes are located inside the City Hall lobby and outside the building by the library book-return box. Please place your cash or check in an envelope and deposit it into the drop-box. If you have any questions about the drop box, please contact City hall at 313-822-6200.
At the Counter
Building permit fees can be paid at the front counter located on the second floor of City Hall at 15115 E Jefferson Avenue, Grosse Pointe Park MI, 48230. City Hall is open from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Monday through Friday for making payments. Payment can be in the form of cash, check, or credit card. All credit card payments are subject to a 3% service fee.
At this time payments cannot be made online or over the phone.
Outdoor Sales/Seating
Business Owners who want to expand service or vending outside are required to apply for the appropriate outdoor permit:
- Outdoor Seating/Vending License (for set-ups on business-owned property)
- Expanded Outdoor Footprint on Non-Business Owned Property Permit (sidewalks, street, non-business owned parking lots)
Businesses should have their application permit and fees turned in no later then June 12th. The forms can be found here.

Certificates of Occupancy
A Certificate of Occupancy is required whenever there is a change of ownership of a home or business or new residential construction. The City Inspector must complete an inspection of the property and all code violations must be corrected before a Certificate of Occupancy will be issued. All inspections are completed by appointment only and should be preferably scheduled at least two weeks before the preferred inspection date. The Certificate of Occupancy is valid for two years from the date of the initial inspection. Inspection fees are as follows and must be paid in advance of the scheduled inspection:
- Single-Family Residence: $200
- Two-Family Residence: $300
- Three-Family Residence: $350
- Four-Family Residence: $400
