Facility Rental
The Tompkins Community Center located at Windmill Pointe Park is a great space for anyone looking to hold larger gatherings within the City of Grosse Pointe Park. Its location just a few feet away from Lake St. Clair makes it a beautiful place to hold events such as graduation parties, weddings/wedding receptions, birthday parties and much more! Capacity
In accordance with fire ratings, the maximum capacity of the facility is 150. The seating capacity is 134.
Fees
- Monday through Thursday: $500 from 1 pm to midnight
- Friday, Saturday, or Sunday Rentals: $800 from 1 pm to midnight
- Wedding and Wedding Receptions: $1,200 from 11 am to midnight
- Early access to the building starting at 12 pm: $100 extra
- Early access to the building starting at 11 am: $200 extra
- Refundable security deposit: $275 (Due two weeks prior to the event date and must be paid using personal check)
Building Amenities
- A glass atrium attached to the back of the center that offers natural space and pristine views of the water of Lake St. Clair.
- Men's and women's restrooms located inside the open space of the center.
- Garbage cans with extra garbage bags left out for groups reserving the center.
- Food warmer, microwave, oven and stovetop designed to keep food nice and warm.
- (2) Coffee percolators for making coffee.
- Full sized refrigerator and freezer to store your food and drinks.
- Patio that includes 3 black steel patio tables and a gas grill for preparing food outside.
- (8) 8' x 30 rectangle tables, (4) 30" x 30" square card tables, (13) 5' large round tables, (5) 4' smaller round tables, (3) high top tables and 134 banquet style black cushioned chairs for seating.
- 65" television which can play power pointe presentations or slide shows when connected to a computer.
- Sound system which includes a HDMI port, iPod port, wireless microphone, DVD player and AM/FM radio.
Rental Guidelines
- You must be a Grosse Pointe Park resident to reserve the Tompkins Community Center. If you are not a resident of Grosse Pointe Park, you will need a sponsor who is a resident to sponsor the event on your behalf.
- In order for rentals to be confirmed there must be a submitted and completed contract that has been filled out and the entire rental fee must be paid in full. Reservations can be made online using your Civic Rec account or in person at the Lavins Activity Center.
- Reservations can be made one year in advance from the current calendar date.
- Residents reserving the Tompkins Community Center must maintain residency within Grosse Pointe Park and have a valid park pass throughout the reservation process. The City of Grosse Pointe Park reserves the right to cancel any reservation if residency and validity of park passes are not met.
- Business owners and Grosse Pointe Park based groups are allowed to reserve the Tompkins Community Center provided that they have a valid park pass.
- The Tompkins Community Center is not available to rent/ reserve on the following holidays: New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, Good Friday and Easter, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
- Rentals have access to the facility starting at 1 pm and have the facility until 12 am (midnight). Wedding and wedding receptions will access to the building starting at 11 am and have the facility until 12 am (midnight).
- Security deposit checks and set up forms are due two weeks prior to event dates and should be turned in at the Lavins Activity Center located at 14920 Windmill Pointe Drive, Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230. Please make all checks payable to the City of Grosse Pointe Park. Cashier checks are prohibited.
- The Recreation Specialist, Parks and Recreation Director, and other City Administration have the right to cancel reservations for reasons that are not in the best interest of the city of Grosse Pointe Park.
- Rentals have up to 45 days prior to their event date to request a refund. Once a refund is requested the city will keep 25% of the rental fee. Rentals requesting a refund less than 45 days prior to their event date will not receive a refund.
Building Information and Rules
- To comply with State Regulations, the Tompkins Center is a Non-Smoking facility.
- The sale of any goods or materials is prohibited in the Center.
- Alcohol will be allowed providing applicant is completely responsible for the serving of any such beverages. It is a felony to serve alcohol to minors. If this should happen, the police will be notified immediately.
- Bachelor/Bachelorette parties are prohibited at the Tompkins Center.
- Use and rental of the facility will be restricted to the building and patio area. Furniture is to be used exclusively inside the Tompkins Center.
- Applicants shall be responsible for set up (decorations) and clean up. Clearing tables, taking out the garbage and leaving kitchen in the same condition as they were found.
- Starting November 15 of each year Christmas decorations will be put up in the Tompkins Community Center and will remain up until January 15 of each new year. These decorations cannot be removed.
- The use of confetti and glitter decorations is prohibited. The $275 security deposit will be cashed if confetti or glitter is used.
- Wall decorations including decorations hanging from the chandelier are prohibited.
- Applicants shall be responsible for the conduct of the group, including a school group or other children's group, there must be sufficient adult supervision, and applicant must be present at all times.
- Applicants will be responsible for any theft, loss or damage to City property.
- The tables in the Center must have some type of protection (ex. tablecloths) on them before heating units or hot dishes are placed on them. The city does not provide linens or tablecloth. It is the responsibility of the group renting the center to provide these items.
- Applicant will hold harmless the City of Grosse Pointe Park, its representatives, agents, officers and employees for any personal injury, theft, items and food left by rental or damage of private property. I will be responsible for any and all of my guests and the use of said Park by me and my guests will be at our own risk. I will indemnify and hold harmless the city and its agents and employees against any claim by me, my guests or others for damages arising as a consequence of being in the park, or as a consequence of any actions by me or any of my guests while in the park and Tompkins Community Center.
- Music may be provided within the building but must be done in a manner not to disrupt exterior park activities.
- Please do not allow children to touch the sound system or the microphone.
- The lofts above the restrooms at each end of the facility are off limits to everyone. (Used for event/program storage).
- If you need help with heat or air conditioning, or need a mop or broom, please ask the gate staff for assistance. Any and all concerns need to be brought up to the gate guard if the office is closed. Gate staff can be reached at 313-417-1168.
- After unloading, please close all doors to the center. (We have animals and insects that try to get in).
- There is a defibrillator in a cabinet by the east end television. This unit is fully automatic and should be removed only in the event of an emergency. Please contact Public Safety as well at 313-822-7400.
- Administration will review request to put a tent on the outside of the atrium on a case-by-case basis. If tent requests are approved there will be a fee of $300.00 for the request. Tents must also be removed by 11:00 am the next day.
- Failure to follow any rules, staying at the facility later than midnight, or causing damage inside or outside of the facility and failing to take garbage out to the dumpsters can result in cashing of the security deposit.
- City Administration including the Parks and Recreation Director, and the Recreation Specialist may deny any request for use of the facility if the above terms and conditions are not met, or if the use of the facility would not be in the best interest of the city.
Book your court time today! The Golden Family Gymnasium is available for rental on a preregistration basis, no walk-ins. Reservations must be made by residents ages 18 or older at least 72 hours in advance with prepayment 24 hours in advance. The court is available for activities such as pickleball, basketball, volleyball and running games. We offer both full court rentals and half court rentals. Park passes are required for access to the park and the Lavins Activity Center under the usual 3 guests per pass guidelines. Minors must be supervised by someone at least 18 years of age or older at all times. Balls are not provided. Please call 313-822-2812, ext. 300 for more details and availability.

Are you having a meeting at the office, but you need more room or a large screen for your presentation? Are you tired of the same old birthday party activities and looking for something different? Call the Lavins Activity Center today! Residents can now reserve the theatre for private showings of personal movies, DVDs, meetings, conventions, etc. Movies currently playing at the theatre are not available for private movie rentals. Permitted Functions
Events must be sponsored on behalf of a Grosse Pointe Park resident. Reservations for both theatres must be requested at least two weeks in advance of the calendar date. Groups renting the theatres cannot charge for admission to the event. The sale of any goods or materials is also prohibited during events. Promotion of the event to the general public is also not allowed (i.e., social media posts, advertising)

Security Deposit Required for Rental
- All rental fees and security deposit checks must come from the resident booking the Windmill Pointe Park Theatre. Please make any checks payable to the City of Grosse Pointe Park.
- Rental Schedule: Rentals are available on non-movie days during regular movie schedule. There will be no rentals during the summer months.
The ice rink warming house at Patterson Park also called the "Lindell Lodge" in recognition of Carlton and Verna Lindell is available for those to reserve. Their generosity along with the continuing efforts of the Grosse Pointe Park Foundation have built this beautiful facility for our community. It is available to rent for tea's, clubs, birthday and card parties, meetings and other small gatherings. The lodge is available for rental from April 1 through November 1 each year by Grosse Pointe Park residents. For more information on reserving the Lindell Lodge please call 313-822-2812 Ext. 300.
Building Amenities
The Lindell Lodge features a 50-inch flat screen television and surround sound audio system with a gas fireplace, 25 folding chairs and four 6FT tables. The side windows open and there is a ceiling fan and air conditioning. There is also a handicap accessible restroom. There is also a mini refrigerator. There is not a kitchen, sink or serving utensils. Coolers are allowed and the counters may be used for serving food.
Building Rules
- The capacity of this facility is 25 people. You may bring in extra tables and chairs if needed.
- No smoking allowed inside the facility. You may smoke outside the building.
- Balloons and table decorations are permitted. Wall decorations, glitter and confetti are prohibited.
- The Lindell Lodge is an "as is" rental room.
- Picnic permits will not be issued for use with the lodge; however, a grill will be available for your barbecue needs.
- Garbage must be taken out to the dumpsters in the parking lot. Failure to do so will result in the loss of the security deposit.
Rental Fee
The Lindell lodge is available for daily rentals starting from 10 am to dusk. Monday through Thursday rentals are $200 per booking. Friday, Saturday, and Sundays are $300 per booking. A separate security deposit of $100 is also required. Please make any checks payable to the City of Grosse Pointe Park.
The rental fee is due at the time of the booking. The security deposit is due 2 weeks prior to the event. All or part of the security deposit can be kept if the building is left dirty or if property is damaged. The Parks and Recreation staff will make this determination.

This room is located upstairs in the Lavins Activity Center directly next to the Meade Fitness Center. The McKeever Lounge is perfect for holding a small and intimidate events such as birthday parties, business meetings, bridal showers and much more. Rental Fees
The McKeever Lounge rental fee is $150 for a 3-hour block of time. This block of time can be for anytime the Lavins Activity Center is open to when the Lavins Activity Center closes. You can also add on additional time in the lounge for $20 extra per hour. The security deposit for the lounge is $200
Building Rules
The room capacity for the space is for 25 people. Ballons and table decorations are permitted. Confetti and Glitter are strictly prohibited. Anyone renting the facility is also responsible for providing their own tablecloth which is required as well as general clean up after use of the facility. Those renting the room are also responsible for the conduct of their group using the facility. If children are in attendance there must be sufficient adult supervision at all times. Alcoholic beverages are allowed in the lounge but must be contained there. Trash must be bagged up and left at the bottom of the stairwell. The room must be returned to its original condition. Activities must not disrupt functions taking place within the building and must be contained to inside the McKeever Lounge.
General Rules and Guidelines
Rentals must be booked by Grosse Pointe Park residents and must be requested at least 2 weeks in advanced of the calendar date. Rental fees are due at the time of the booking. The security deposit is due 2 weeks prior to the rental date and must be submitted by check. Please make any check payments payable to the City of Grosse Pointe Park. Management may deny any request for or terminate the contracts of those reserving the facility if terms are not met or if its use is not in the best interest of the city. Refunds are available but must be requested at least 48-hours in advanced of their event date.
