As part of the upgrades to the city’s web presence, we are moving to a new notification platform.  Nixle and Constant Contact are being replaced with the CivicPlus Mass Notification System.

CivicPlus®Mass Notification System

The CivicPlus®Mass Notification system  includes the following groups:

Emergency Alerts:  Emergency and High Priority Alert information from the city. 
City News and Advisories:  General announcements, notifications and information.
Parks and Recreation News:  General announcements, notification and information.
Movies:  What is playing at the Schaap and Okulski theaters.
Fitness Center News:  Announcements on fitness classes and general operation of the Meade Fitness Center.
Marina News:  Geneal announcements and news for the Marina
Kayak Storage:  Information about Kayak storage at Patteson Park.

Subscribers can register to receive Emergency Alerts via text messages, email, via voice phone calls, and/or the My Alert app. . Other group messages will be sent by text, email and/or the My Alert app.  Messages can also be sent out to specific areas of the city by geo-fencing the delivery area

When you create an account an email address is required.   You will also be asked for a phone number and address.  A phone number will allow you to receive text messages and voice calls.  If you include your address, or turn on location information in the app, you will receive area specific messages.

You MUST create an account sign-up to receive Emergency Alert Messages.  This is a new list in the Mass Notification System and there is no carry-over from the Nixle System.  The other lists that were created in Constant Contact have been moved into the Mass Notification System, but only your email is in your profile.   Please go through the sign-up process and update your information as you want.

How to Sign-Up


Step 1 - Create an Account Here  

Sign up to create your account.  Click "Website Sign In" button in upper right corner of Home Page.  Complete the form for a new account.  

If you get a message saying your email already exists please enter your email address and press Continue.  Then click “Forgot your password?” and reset a password.  Once you login you can add or change any of your personal information.

Step 2 - Sign up to receive notifications

Once your account is created, you can sign into the website using the link in the upper right corner of the website home page.
Then click the round button labeled “Stay Connected.”  You can then pick the alert lists you want to join.  

You will be prompted to enter a phone number and indicate if the number will receive Text Message and Voice Calls.  You can also add an address.  If you add this information you can receive messages that have specific areas designated to recieve specific alerts.
