Property Taxes
PROPERTY TAX INFORMATION
- Summer property taxes are mailed on or before July 1st and winter property tax bills are mailed on or before December 1st each year.
- Summer tax payments will not be accepted or receipted until July 1st and winter tax payments will not be accepted or receipted until December 1st each year,
- The summer tax bill statement includes Wayne County operating taxes and the City of Grosse Pointe Park’s property taxes only, which are payable to the city without interest on or before August 31st,
- Summer tax bills that are unpaid as of August 31st will receive an additional one percent (1%) interest penalty to be added to the unpaid balance on September 1st with an additional one percent (1%) each month, on the first of each month thereafter, for as long as the bill remains past due.
- The winter tax bill statement includes taxes for the City’s Public Safety, Municipal Roads, and W&S Infrastructure, the Grosse Pointe School District, the Huron Clinton Metro Authority, the Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA), and the Grosse Pointe Public Library and the Wayne County: Parks, Jail, Extra Voted Operating, Veterans, Community College millages.
- Winter and Summer taxes are payable without penalty if paid on or before February 14,
- An additional three percent (3%) interest penalty is added on all unpaid past due taxes on February 15th each year,
- Failure to receive a tax bill does not waive interest or penalty.
- The City does not have the authority to waive agencies tax interest or penalty on past due taxes.

Please note a convenience fee will be charged with each of these transactions.
The city currently accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover Card, in addition to digital wallet options accepting Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo and Pay Pal.
- The credit card (VISA or Mastercard Debit Credit Card) service fee for all credit card or digital wallet transaction.
- The credit card convenience has been reduced to 3% per transaction with a minimum fee of $2.95 per transaction,
- All credit card service fees are the responsibility of the cardholder.
ONLINE PAYMENT USING A BANKING INSTITUTION
When using a banking institutions online bill payment option, a separate payee must be set up for each payment type,
When paying a tax bill, for the account number, please use the property tax identification number, found on the bottom right of the tax bill.
Example: The Summer & Winter Tax account number: “39 ### ## #### ###”
- All payments must be made to the “City of Grosse Pointe Park.”

- Personal check or cashier’s check only,
- The brown drop-box located outside the City Hall, labeled “No U.S. Mail” with a sign indicating the location to drop city water payments, tax payments, and all other payable violations is found in front of the mail City Hall door at the end of parking circle.
MAILED RECEIPT
- Taxpayers that wish to pay by mail and wish to request a paid receipt must provide a self-addressed postmarked or stamped envelope with the entire tax bill.
CURRENT & DELINQUENT PROPERTY TAX INFORMATION
Payment for the summer property taxes will be accepted between July 1st and February 28th each year (29th during a leap year) and must be made payable to the City of Grosse Pointe Park.
Should the due date fall on a weekend or holiday, the due date will be moved to the following business date before interest or penalties are applied.
- The City of Grosse Pointe Park does not give out tax information over the phone, please visit our online website at Home | City of Grosse Pointe Park | BS&A Online (bsaonline.com),
- All unpaid real property taxes are transferred to the Wayne County Treasurer each tax year, on or by March 1st with additional interest and penalties.
- To pay past due taxes, please contact the Wayne County Treasurer’s office at (313) 224-5990.
- To find or pay past due tax information transferred to Wayne County online, visit their website at Pay Taxes Online | Treasurer (waynecounty.com)
- The City’s completed tax rolls for summer and winter payment information reflects all payment collections through the date the tax roll is surrendered to the Wayne County Treasurer, please visit their site for any unpaid taxes at the local level through the end of February.
- All prior or past delinquent Personal Property tax bills are to be paid or remitted to the City of Grosse Pointe Park’s Treasury Office.
SUMMER TAX DEFERMENT
Residents, who meet the State of Michigan’s eligibility for a summer tax deferment, will be provided additional time to pay taxes without interest penalty, by filling out and submitting the States Deferment Form on or before September 15 and delivering it to the City Hall, requesting a deferral of their City Summer tax bill until February 14, without penalty.
- For those principal residents that qualified for a Summer Tax Deferment during the summer tax season will automatically be deferred by the Wayne County Treasurer through April 30th for the summer and winter tax bill without penalty.
- There is no additional application required, the approved summer tax deferment application will be provided to the Wayne County Treasurer when the current year tax roll is surrendered.
- Those payments will then be required to be made to the Wayne County Treasurer.

To qualify for a tax deferment, the total principal resident’s household income must not exceed $40,000, and must in addition, meet one of the following requirements:
- 62 years of age or older,
- Paraplegic, hemiplegic, or quadriplegic,
- Totally and permanently disabled or blind,
- Eligible service Person, veteran, eligible widow, or widower.

All applications must be signed by the principal resident (Owner) qualifying for the exemption or by their power of attorney.
The completed application, along with a copy of your previous year’s Homestead Property Tax Credit Form, must be received in the Treasurer's Office no later than September 15th.

- The tax law holds the homeowner responsible for property tax payment.
- If any changes are made with a lending institution, taxpayers will need to follow-up to verify that the taxes have been paid – see bullet point above: “To print a tax bill, and/or verify that a tax payment has been made:”

To Search for Information:
- Click "Current Tax Search," located on the far-left side of the screen.
- Click "Tax Information Search" in the main window,
- Click the radial button to choose the search criteria you wish to use and enter the information,
- Click on the blue parcel number of that property.
- The Online “Search” screens will lead you to the “Pay Now” button found located under Tax, Water, and Miscellaneous Receivables.
- Customers whom have their invoice with the water account number, miscellaneous invoice number, or property tax identification number, may go directly to “Online Payments” on the left side of the menu and enter payment information.
