Patterson Park is located at the foot of Three Mile Drive and Essex. In 1993, the George H. Helm Boardwalk along the shoreline of Lake St. Clair was opened, and offers a splendid view of the surrounding area at any time of year. The boardwalk is beautifully landscaped, lighted, and handicapped accessible. For safety and maintenance reasons, no bicycles or rollerblades are allowed on the boardwalk.

Matthew C. Patterson Park is located at 16006 Essex Boulevard. Facilities include grills, picnic tables, a covered picnic shelter, a splash pad, three pickleball courts, a playground playscape, bocce ball court, putting green practice facility, nature trail, exercise course, a covered pavilion and lake access for non-motorized watercraft, such as windsurfers and sailfish. Winter activities include: ice skating, sledding, and cross-country skiing. Our Zamboni keeps the ice well groomed for ice skating all winter. A gate guard works year round. No private lessons of any kind are allowed at the park unless approved by City administration.

The Hutton Ice Rink generally opens around Thanksgiving. (weather permitting) You can call Patterson Park at 822-1681 to get rink updates. Skating hours are from 10 am - 8 pm Skaters are asked to stay to one side of the rink while skating classes are being conducted.

To keep the rink in tip top shape and to provide a safe skate for all we have a few rules. There is no hockey, no speed skating, no tag games, no rough play and no food or beverages allowed on the rink. We ask that everyone on the ice surface is wearing skates. These rules will be strictly enforced.
